Positivity is contagious and powerful that can even influence a stranger. I experienced and proven it today!
Just this afternoon I was on my way to Iloilo Airport. Time was a beat tight because of the traffic. It was almost 12noon and I was still at the van terminal,in SM, going to the airport for my 1pm flight to Cebu.
In the van, I happened to sit beside a woman at her 30s. She looks so stressed and worried. I'd been hearing her talking to the other line, over the phone, feeling helpless to catch up her flight. I didn't know her flight schedule at that time, though.
The driver had been trying his best for us to catch up our flights. He looks so pressured for his passengers and had been asking what time it is. I assured and told him in a calm and relax manner, not to worry as we can definitely catch up the flight. I knew it since I've been traveling with the route often.
And yes, we made it!
When we were about to deplane, getting the luggage in the stowage bin, the woman I sit beside the van kept smiling on me and I wondered why. All the while I thought she is just being friendly, just like an ordinary passenger I usually encounter. Then she approached me at the carousel area and said "thank you". I was so shocked and asked her why.
I felt overwhelmed hearing from her. She said that all the while, while we were in the van, she draws her strength from me. And I quote her, "You are my angel today. I felt so relieved hearing your assurance and seeing you very calm not worrying for our flight. I admire your disposition."
I obviously felt goosebumps hearing it from a woman at her 30s. We then exchanged digits and names.
While I was at the taxi, I'd been processing my thoughts. I didn't realize how contagious and powerful positivity is, not until I experienced it this afternoon.
Miss Gretchen affirmed and made me realize that I had grown as a better one. I am not the bitter Mai that I was used to. I realized that I am now unconsciously living in a positive perspective.
Indeed, having a positive attitude on things and/or in any situation is contagious and powerful. I hope to live with this motto, all the time.
